  ASReml  ~  Standard error for VP and h2 in leg model

Hi All,

I am wanting to calculate the standard errors of the phenotypic variance (VP) and the heritability (h2) from a model which includes a random intercept and slope for individuals both at the permanent environment (VPE + VPExE) and genetic levels (VA + VGxE) using a 1st order Legandre polynomial (response to Temperature, scaled to be between -1 and 1) and with heterogeneous by-year error residuals and with year as a (factorial) random effect. I want to calculate the SE at three points: -1, 0 and 1.

Using the VPREDICT !DEFINE options works for summing individual terms that don't vary across temperatures and VPE and heritability are easy to calculate, but I'm not sure how to calculate the SEs of these.

the output, for the three years that correspond to -1, 0 and 1 a from the .vvp file, and the PE and G elements are:

Is there a way to calculate the SEs of VP and h2 from these using VPREDICT !DEFINE (if so, how?). If not, does anyone know how to calculate them? - using small words if possible :)
